This is my last reflection about the call lesson. I cant belive how the
time passed so fastly. When i heard this lesson first, i found it unneccessary.
I didnt believe that we could learn any useful things from this lesson. My
opinions of course chanced. But, for some parts i have still questions if it is
realy useful or not such as radio fm (boodymo). Today, when i sit in front of
my laptop, i feel myself very accoutered . I feel very different. Now, i know
much more new things than the other english teachers. This is our call
teacher’s achievement. We, as prospecter english teachers, have a connection
with the world as long as we have a computer and the net connection 🙂
A podcast is a type of digital media consisting of an episodic series of audio radio, video, PDF or ePub files subscribed to and downloaded through web syndication or streamed online to a computer or mobile device. The word is a neogism derived from “broadcast” and “pod” from the success of the iPOD, as podcasts are often listened to on portable media players. In the context of Apple devices, the term “Podcasts” refers to the audio and video version of podcasts, whereas the textual version of podcasts are classified under the app known as Newsstand.. We can use these donwloadeds for educational purposes. To sum up, it is generally known as educational records.
This week’s topic was familiar for us! We used “movie maker” for “digital storytelling” in our third year. I learnt new website. It was “storyjumper”. All of them is very usefull for us, I think.
Windows Movie Maker (formerly known as Windows Live Movie Maker, codenamed Sundance) is a freeware video editing software by Microsoft.
Digital storytelling refers to a short form of digital media production that allows everyday people to share aspects of their life story. “Media” may include the digital equivalent of film techniques (full-motion video with sound), animation, stills, audio only, or any of the other forms of non-physical media (material that exists only as electronic files as opposed to actual paintings or photographs on paper, sounds stored on tape or disc, movies stored on film) which individuals can use to tell a story or present an idea. The term “digital storytelling” can also cover a range of digital narratives (web-based stories, interactive stories, hypertexts, and narrative computer games); It is sometimes used to refer to film-making in general, and as of late, it has been used to describe advertising and promotion efforts by commercial and non-profit enterprises.
StoryJumper is an online tool that makes creative writing fun for kids. Using our interactive workbook and lesson plans, teachers spark students’ interest in developing and writing complete stories. Kids can then put their creativity and project skills to work in crafting their very own professionally published hard-back books!
The topic of nineth week was very actual! It was facebook and twitter. For many years, I have been using facebook. For twitter, I can’t tell the same things because it didn’t draw my attention until our teacher wanted us to create a twitter account.
Let’s start with facebook. Facebook is an online social networking service whose name stems from the colloqual name for the book given to students at the start of the academic year by some university administrations in the United States to help students get to know each other. It was founded in February 2004 by Marc Zuckerberg.
Twitter is an online social networkin service and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read text-based messages of up to 140 characters known as “tweets“.
Today’s topic was wiziq. WizIQ is an online learning platform. The site is designed to help students and teachers find each other, and to provide an online virtual classroom learning environment. The WizIQ virtual classroom runs using a Web browser and Adope Flash. On the site, one can find online tests, tutorials, and recorded classes. WizIQ also serves as a social networking site to bring together educators and students from around the world. There is no vetting of the teachers on the site, as anybody can become a teacher and anybody can be a student. Teachers upload their profiles advertising what they teach, tutorials, their experience and credentials and students can run searches, find recorded classes to watch, tutorials to take, or teachers to work with.
Eeach week, we as future teachers are developing ourselves 🙂
This week our teacher mentioned online clasrooms. In order to be able to perform this in our classrooms, we use some tools. These are nicenet and dokeos.
Nicenet provides us to create a classroom on the net. We can discuss some issues about the lesson. It may be free, but it has disadvantages, I think. It isn’t similar as wordpress. We can’t share whatever we want. So, I will not prefer it in the future.
Dokeos is more usefull, and I like it. The point I like for the dokeos, we as teachers can serve some quizes for our students. We also share videoes, files, documents and etc…
;I hope that I will have a class in which I can perform these usefull items in the future.
This week’s topic was “Prezi”. But before it, the teacher mentioned to “Media Literacy”. Well, what is it? It is the ability to understand how mass media work, how they produce meanings, how they are organized, and how to use them wisely. The media literate person can describe the role media play in his or her life. The goal of the media literacy must be to develop a literate person who is able to read, analyze, evaluate, and produce communications in a variety of media ( print, TV, computers, the arts, etc.). After this new information, we learnt what Prezi is. It is similar to powerpoint, but Prezi differs from Powerpoint in that it is a web-based program that allows you to create more of a canvas presentation instead of a sequential slide presentation. It is impressive because its zoom effects are very good. In todays world, students can get easiliy bored, so we as teachers should create our materials in intresting ways. Prezi is one of them 🙂
